Fabric Requirements

Not every project starts with a sewing pattern. When the right fabric comes along, you know that you have to buy that fabric even though you have only a vague idea of what you might do with it.

With this chart in hand, you can make that purchase intelligently, confident that when the time comes to sew your fabric you won't run short. Unlike fabric, sewing notions will never be a problem.

These guidelines are suitable for women up to size 14 and a height of 5'5". If you take a larger size or are taller, you must allow extra yardage.

The sewing pattern for your specific project is the best indicator for the amount of fabric you will need.

Important: All fabric yardage requirements are approximations.
