Sewing fabric and sewing notions are our business. However, with years of serving the sewing fabric and sewing notions needs of our customers, we have accumulated a good supply of sewing books and handouts for helpful sewing tips, sewing instructions and sewing techniques.

For starters, we highly recommend the Vogue/Butterick Step-by-Step Guide to Sewing Techniques. The editors have selected the 500 most frequently used techniques and have presented these techniques in clearly written text, accompanied by illustrations. Another basic book often recommended is The Complete Photo Guide to Sewing By Singer, a step-by-step reference photographed in full detail. Other books to consider for your library are the Encyclopedia of Sewing Machine Techniques, Dream Sewing Spaces by Lynette Ranney Black, Power Sewing by Sandra Betzina and Fit for Real People by Palmer & Alto. The last of these is considered to be the ultimate manual for fitting sewing patterns.

One of the very best sewing books published on notions is Notions: Over 50 Great Gadgets You Can't Live Without from Taunton Press. This book is a compilation of sewing advice articles from 23 nationally recognized experts

Sewing Hints & Tips
